Mindfulness means being in the present moment and experiencing life without judgement. It’s also being aware of our feelings, our emotions, and how they impact us. Being mindful helps us cope with stress, problems, and life. It is a basis for learning how to relax, meditate, breathe, and be at peace with yourself.

Our first task of the year was teambuilding since 9 of our girls were new to the team. We had a team retreat with our coordinator and her MSW interns. Our goal was to get to know each other and lay out our project for the year. We were taught about mindfulness and we ate together and did yoga. By the end of the day, we knew what our mission was and we were prepared to do the classroom presentations.
