Girls Build Retreat
Our first task of the year was to recruit new team members and write the grant. Once we were awarded the grant the next step was team-building and goal setting . We had a virtual team retreat on December 5th, 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic was out of control so we had to be flexible and creative to think of ways to connect and plan. Our goal was to get to know each other, assign roles, and lay out our projects for the year. Our coordinator brought retreat care packages to the homes of everyone who came to the retreat so we would all have the same supplies and materials. By the end of the day, we knew each other better and knew what our mission was and had several projects planned to help us achieve our goal of a more peaceful school. We have been meeting weekly on Thursdays at 2:30 on zoom and we will continue that throughout the year.
During our retreat new members of the team were introduced to mindfulness. We had a guest speaker, colored mandalas, practiced mindful eating and did a lot of planning.
